A Little More About Us
My name is Daphne, and my partner Jeff and I are the people behind Mountain Peak Maine Coons. I handle our day-to-day cattery operations, and I’m the person you’ll communicate with throughout the application and reservation process. Jeff is our resident builder and flight nanny.
I grew up on a farm and have pretty much always had animals in my life, especially cats. I’ve spent 16 years raising companion pets aka furry family members, and Maine Coons are hands down my favorite breed. I love their affectionate, intelligent, adaptable personalities, along with their beauty and size.
I also have an associate degree in Business Management, a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, and I’m a certified pet groomer who spent years owning my own grooming shop. Somehow, after all of that, I ended up doing what probably makes the most sense for someone who has always been animal crazy.
Early socialization has always been incredibly important to me, and all of those years of experience have shaped the way I raise my kittens today and the kind of cattery I want Mountain Peak to be.
Our kittens grow up with a lot more than just other cats. We have Bibi, our Miniature Schnauzer, three indoor litter-box-trained rabbits, and a backyard flock of chickens. The chickens obviously aren’t wandering around the house, but the kittens see and hear them outside clucking and carrying on. There’s usually something going on around here, and that’s exactly how I like raising our kittens. They’re exposed to the normal sights, sounds, people, and other animals that are part of everyday life in our home.
And then there’s Jeff. He’s worked in construction for 30 years, builds some pretty amazing catios, gets recruited for basically every animal project I dream up, and handles most of our long-distance kitten deliveries. So yes, Mountain Peak is definitely a team effort.
The cats featured in our website heading are Fiona, Milo, and Kona.
