PictureMaverick, our King.
Maine Coons are a purrfect family member because of their gentle nature, playful personalities, adaptability to many different environments, and their intelligence.  My program specializes in Black Smokes, and most of my kittens are Black Smokes. But I do have other colors too, and those colors are listed on the bottom of the AVAILABLE KITTENS page. My kittens are for pet homes only, please do not ask for breeding rights, the answer will be NO.

Maine Coon's are great for first time pet owners, wonderful for families with children, and are friendly with gentle dogs. They are typically adaptable to different lifestyles and personalities. They are intelligent, and so training them to behave and setting boundaries needs done during kitten-hood. Contrary to popular belief, cats are definitely trainable! You can teach them the same useful commands as a dog, as well as tricks. All you need is some tasty treats and patience. You can start easy with training your cat to come when you call their name. They are nick-named, 'the cat like dog', and they are known as the gentle giants of the cat world.

My daughter CJ also raises Maine Coons, we live about 20 minutes apart, and here's the link to her website: LINK to MOUNTAIN HIGH MAINE COONS.
All of her Maine Coon's are also the European Lines only.

All of my Maine Coons are family. They sleep in our bed, lounge in the living room, and that includes my stud cat Maverick. I am very fortunate that he does not spray and he's a happy house-pet vs being in an outside in a stud-building (sometimes this is the only option due to nonstop spraying). I also make sure that he has the proper number of females that a stud cat requires to stay content as a stud cat and loving. Reputable breeders also put a lot of time and money into their programs. Their prices will reflect this dedication and investment, and if the price is too good to be true, it probably is... My Cattery name has changed from Riggs Maine Coons to Mountain Peak Maine Coons due to personal reasons.

My Maine Coon's are 100% European Lines, all imported from overseas, or their parents are direct imports. Although Maine Coon's are rumored to come from Maine and they do, their entire history dates back much farther into Europe and likely to Marie Antoinette.  With the Maine Coon's exotic look and them being only one of two recognized polydactyl cat breeds, this theory makes sense. European lines maintain the strict exotic look that the Maine Coon is known for... My Maine Coons are TICA registered, and kittens are sent home with TICA pet-registration papers. My cattery is also registered with TICA (MountainPeakMC). All my adults have sweet temperaments, and are DNA Health Tested for Cystinuria; SCL7A9 mutation: c.881A>T, Erythrocyte Pyruvate Kinase (PKD) Deficiency, Factor XII Deficiency, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (MYBPC3 mutation: A31P found in Maine Coon -- HCM), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)/Spinal Muscular Dystrophy, Blood-brain Barrier Dysfunction, MDR1 / ABCB1. All my cats are up to date on their vaccines and are negative for FELV and FIV (cats can't enter the USA without testing negative for FELV and FIV when being imported). All of my kittens are sent home with a Kitten Care Package, first vaccines by my veterinarian and an exam, socialized with our family, litter trained, healthy, and with a Two Year Health Contract.

*All Maine Coons in a breeding program should be DNA tested for Congenital HCM, PKD, and SMA. Congenital HCM is a congenital heart defect found in 3 out of every 10 untested Maine Coons. Do not let any breeder talk you into thinking that their adult cats do not need this DNA test. This DNA test is needed regardless of whether their adult had the ECHO or not. An ECHO can only let you know if there is a current heart issue, an ECHO will not reveal if they carry the gene for HCM, or if they will develop it later in life and pass it to their kittens genetically. Congenital HCM will show up between 1 and 4 years old (on average) and it is not curable. Both parents need to be tested to ensure that the kitten does not have the Congenital HCM gene. Have the breeder provide proof of DNA testing if needed. Read More Here. My tests are done through the Wisdom panel and TICA affiliated.
