▶️ Do your cats and kittens live in your home? YES, they do, I am a small hobby Cattery and only have a few litters a year. All my cats and kittens are in my home and our pets. They are free-roaming and have excellent manners even though they are not spayed/neutered. They also have their own cat room and catio, and the door is always open to the cat room (but not at night). I also have a kitten nursery and our doors are custom made so that our kittens can be safely in their room but see everything that is going on in our home. I have a lot of videos of our home Cattery on the Available Kitten page and the King and Queens page. Anyone who is picking their kitten up at my home, will meet all my cats and get a tour of our home Cattery. I get compliments endlessly on how well socialized, healthy, and sweet my kittens are, and I often have repeat clients who have two and even three Maine Coons from me.
▶️ When do the kittens go home? At 12 to 13 weeks of age. The prescheduled pickup date for the families coming here to get their kitten is always prescheduled on a Saturday only. Please make sure that you have freed your schedule so that you can get your kitten on the prescheduled Saturday—I do not make exceptions, so please don't ask. I will let you know the date in plenty of time. I typically have families come to my home around 12:00 to 2:00 pm mountain standard. All pickup families come the same day and at the same time so that I do not have people coming on several different days throughout the week. Thank you for preplanning your schedule around your new kitten. For families needing a flight nanny, the flight nanny dates are prescheduled separately.
▶️ Will I receive pictures and updates of the kitten that I reserved before I bring them home? Yes, I send a new picture update every two weeks until your kitten goes home, and this is done from the time we know which kitten is yours, until they go home. Sometimes I also post videos on my Cattery social media pages of the kittens too. I also send my clients a few helpful emails before they go home to help them be more prepared for their new kitten.
▶️ What is included with the price of the kitten? All kittens are also sent home with this WELCOME HOME KITTEN CARE PACKAGE.
▶️ What size are your Maine Coons? My Maine Coon's are within the higher weight range for the breed or exceed the weight range. BREED STANDARD: Mass: Male: 13 – 18 lbs (Adult), Female: 7.9 – 12 lbs (Adult). Maine Coon's are built with long bodies, 3.3 feet from head to tail. NOTE: My Maine Coons males are usually 18 to 23 pounds, and my females are usually 14 to 19 pounds. My male Maverick does exceed the standard size and is a larger male Maine Coon at 22 pounds lean. My females also exceed the average size for a female around 13 to 16 pounds lean. I do have larger Maine Coons but without compromising their health by being obese.
▶️ What colors do you have? *Black Smoke, Black, Silver Tabby, Silver Torbie, Black Smoke Tortie, Black Tortie, Red Tabby, Red Smoke, Black/Brown Tabby.
▶️ Are your adults and kittens registered? I am a registered cattery with TICA (MountainPeakMC). FYI: the TICA website only lists catteries that pay to be listed, so you'll need to call their customer service at (956) 428-804 to verify my cattery vs just looking at their website. Here is the information you will need for this call, *Mountain Peak MC, TICA Cattery ID #103266, Breeder is Daphne Riggs, Region is South Central & located in CO.
▶️ Do you offer breeding rights or showing? NO BREEDING RIGHTS, my kittens are for pet homes only. I do NOT give breeding rights and I require spay/neuter at 6 months of age or sooner. Maine Coons from me can be shown at TICA shows and I do have a kitten showing now.
▶️ Do you DNA health test? Yes, through Optimal Selection Feline Genetic Breeding Analysis which is also affiliated with TICA & the OFA. DNA TESTED FOR: Cystinuria; SCL7A9 mutation: c.881A>T, Erythrocyte Pyruvate Kinase (PKD) Deficiency, Factor XII Deficiency, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (MYBPC3 mutation: A31P found in Maine Coon -- HCM), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)/Spinal Muscular Dystrophy, Blood-brain Barrier Dysfunction, MDR1 / ABCB1
▶️ Do your adults and kittens have a regular veterinarian for check-ups and vaccines? Yes, all my cats see a vet annually or as needed. All kittens receive a veterinarian exam (the exam includes the entire body, eyes, ears, heart, lungs, and more), first vaccines by my veterinarian, and a nail trim too. The veterinarian paperwork is sent home with each kitten. All breeders should be able to guarantee that the kitten will receive a vet exam before going home & that the vet paperwork will be sent home with the kitten too.
▶️ Do you have a health contract? Yes, I have a two-year health contract.
▶️ How do I get on your Deposit Wait List? Fill out a KITTEN APPLICATION and I will get back with you right away or within 24 hours. Be sure to check your junk/spam folder for my reply, as it sometimes ends up in the junk/spam folder vs the Inbox.
▶️ Where are you located? I am now located out West, Colorado. However, over 90% of my clients live out-of-state and use the flight nanny option for delivery. I have lived most of my 40 plus years in Indiana, until recently when I moved out West to be near my children.
▶️ Do you have long distance delivery options? I do have personal long distance delivery options available. Over 90% of my clients use the flight nanny service, so I have a lot of references for how wonderful this service is and three videos of the delivery to view too. Your kitten will be in the constant care of the flight nanny during the journey, and they communicate with us throughout. I do setup the flight nanny and you do not have to do anything but meet the nanny at your nearest airport. CLICK TO LEARN MORE. With a flight nanny, the kitten is in the care of the flight nanny the entire journey. Pet Jet Flight Nanny service delivers to all 48 lower states, plus Anchorage Alaska. They also deliver to Mexico MEX and Puerto Rico. SkyPetz LL delivers to all 48 lower states.
▶️ How much are your Maine Coon kittens? The deposit is $500 (the deposit is a portion of the total price). Kittens range in price from $2200 to $3700. My specific PRICES for color and gender are provided on the KITTEN PRICING PAGE. Please keep in mind that 2/3rds of pricing covers overhead to run and maintain my Cattery and to pay state and federal taxes. My Cattery is a sole proprietorship.
▶️ What are your Payment Options? Deposit payment options are Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, Square via Credit Card (send invoice to your email to pay via Credit Card), or a money order or personal or cashier check. Final payment option after the kitten is born is Zelle or a money order or a personal or cashier check ONLY, (may occasionally accept Credit Card payment via Square online invoice for a final payment).
▶️ Visitor and Pick-up Policy? My Cattery is in my private home, and my home is not open to the public (it's open for people picking up their kitten only). This policy is for safety reasons and health reasons due to viruses and bacteria humans have passed to their cats. *I do have the kitten pick-up at my home though. When I import my cats from Europe, I must trust the breeder and utilize the online tools available to verify their cattery, so I understand not wanting to get scammed. I have gotten Maine Coons overseas for years and I've never been scammed (do the research and I provide ways to verify my Cattery below). I also have an endless list of people who are happy to message with you or just follow them on IG and engage with them on their IG pages for their Maine Coons from me. I have linked over 25 IG accounts on the Testimony Page. I can also forward you five testimonial emails from past clients too. Keep scrolling to view the verification list.
▶️ Tragically in 2016, Lori Heimer Haunts (a poodle breeder), violently lost her life to an unknown person who visited her home to see her pups. She had two visitors coming that day and was then supposed to go to a family cookout afterwards, but she never showed up. Sadly, this case remains unsolved. ▶️ Can humans pass bacteria and viruses to cats, yes, they can. Occasionally cats get sick from their owners, which is why opening my home to the public would increase this risk even more (this happened at my friends Cattery). Kittens and pregnant Queens also have a compromised immune system. Read more by clicking HERE. There are other stories like this too, including thefts of pups/kittens and more. It's 2023, so please take the time to verify online vs expecting a breeder to allow any random person into their home and sacrifice their safety and the safety/health of their pets and family.
I have been breeding for 13 years and it's very easy to verify that I am who I say I am. Ways to verify my Cattery below.

Lastly, although visiting kittens is fun, there is no health benefit or bonding that occurs from visiting. Once you take your kitten home, they quickly bond to you and your family, and my kittens are very well socialized. While you wait to take your kitten home, I also provide bi-weekly picture updates as the kitten grows and occasionally videos too.

TESTIMONY FROM JEN ON 5/29/2023. We love picture updates and Happy first birthday to Tallulah! 🎉 Here is what Jen has to say about her Maine Coon Tallulan from me and she has another Maine Coon from me too... ₽ Tallulah - with tail 🙂 I’m not being patient enough to find a baby picture of her - but here she is at 17 pounds - a week past her first birthday. Maine Coons grow until they are 3 or 4 years old although I've been told she'll slow down. She's from Mountain Peak Maine Coons in Colorado Springs. Cannot recommend. Daphne more highly.
